"StoneCold" (StoneCold)

And she’s helped me out majorly.
I can’t draw. I’m not even that creative. But...
I drew this up in two minutes to possibly make a Christmas gift for her (answer of what it is in the tags, but try guessing!).
Now I’m not going to put her on this pedestal and say she’s my muse and my willpower and my yada yada, because I am my own person with my own goals and she’s her own person with her own goals that are separate from mine. But I’ve been in a rut. Fix computers at my part time jobs, get home, cruise OPPO and the internet, go to the bar, rinse, repeat.
And I found it fun as hell to design this, to do quick off-the-cuff, not-precise-at-all calculations for weights and forces, to think of what materials I have on hand to meet the challenges. It’s got my brain going, and it’s fun! It’s the booomb dot com!
So even if this doesn’t go anywhere (we’ve been on, six-ish dates?), I’ve still got this. This feeling. I haven’t felt this in years. It feels good. Is this forum to share this? I don’t know but I have to say it out loud:
I feel better and designing something with my hands and putting it (messily) to paper sets my soul on fire.
So I will shit post less, but you better believe there will be more full posts about my projects. Including this one.
So I need some light wood (pine?), some wood stain, some laptop hinges, some metal hangers, some hard drive magnets, and something to make a few pivots. Let’s do this.

Plot twist-twist, she’s on OPPO but never talks to me again, but I leave OPPO and later find someone on The Truth About Cars while commiserating with her about the lack of round headlights in modern car design. #manic-pixie-dream-Mustang-enthusiast

It’s a shelf! But also a cook book holder!
But it converts, because convertibles are wonderful! For gals who like cooking but have studio apartments!
And it’s not you. It’s me.
My drafting skills are non-existent.

Best wishes! Sounds like you may be onto something...or several things ;-)

Thank you! And yup, 2017 is going to be different. Less toolin’ around, more up and outward bound!
I used to love computers and building them and tweaking them, but when all you do is reset someone’s password or figure out why an E-mail isn’t sending, it gets old. I think this’ll stay as a hobby though; can’t draw a straight line to save my life!

What is that book and how do you like it?
I am studying for the Cisco CCENT/CCNA.

You don’t have to, I’m still trying to figure out a way to have the support(s) fold into the body pieces. I need to get measurements, also, and see if there’s some standard pieces to scrounge from any old shelves I have or if I need to buy new stuff. But thank you!

I haven’t posted much of any consequence in some time, and shitpost is easier to say than “post of no consequence” XD
Thank you! I have no idea how she’s not bored with me yet, but hey, she supports what I’m doing, and I help her de-stress from her city job by being the easiest going, judge-free guy.
And Mustang photos will come in the spring! In the spring!

My +ou CompTIA Network+ book is just about running routers and racks more fancy than a WRT. Pretty similar to CCENT, looks like, but a little more general and not so Cisco focused.
I like the book’s straight forward approach, but it’s dry and tough to keep going for long periods of time. It feels more complete as compared to the A+ book I got, which on the other hand, I could keep reading and reading because the author is pretty witty and included a bunch of real-life scenarios.

Awesome. I’m going to be pursuing a cert in CCNA and then land a job. While I search for a job or get a job that requires a CCNA, I’m thinking of trying to study for and acquire vendor neutral certifications as well. I’d also like to look at if I’d be interested in Microsoft, VMware, Linux, and Juniper stuff.
Do you have any hands on experience? And How’d you get interested in this?
